Any Questions?

What kind of future can I look forward to afterwards?

A bright one. Successfully complete the scheme, and you’ll have a very good chance of securing a job with us at the end of it. If successful, you could become one of our Level 2 Service Engineers – a job that can pay up £35,000 a year.

What’s more, the engineering skills you’ll gain in the process will be invaluable. If you want proof, just ask one of our senior managers. Many of them began as Southern Apprentices.

What commitments do I have to make?

You have to make several commitments. First off, you need to be willing to stay the course. The scheme is a four-year commitment. No matter how talented you are, there are no short cuts.

You need to be serious about applying yourself, too – both in your studies and in your practical work. If you don’t concentrate in class, you’ll fail. Likewise, if you don’t keep on top of your log book work, you won’t get very far either.

In return for all the time and money we invest, we also expect you to work for Southern at the end of the scheme for a minimum period of two years (subject to job availability).

How many apprentices will there be?

We usually look to take on 3-6 apprentices per year.

When does the scheme start?

The scheme will start in September 2010.
